The difference between the two: falling dart head diameter, material and falling height is not the same. Generally speaking, method A is suitable for materials with impact damage mass of 50g ~ 2000g. Method B is suitable for materials whose impact damage mass is 300g ~ 2000g.
The cascade method of GB/T 9639 and ISO 7765 is the same method.
Method A: the diameter of the falling dart head is 38±1mm, the material of the dart head is smooth and polished aluminum, phenolic plastic or other low-density materials with similar hardness, and the falling height is 0.66±0.01m.
B method: the diameter of the dart head is 50±1mm, the material of the dart head is smooth and polished stainless steel or other materials with similar hardness, and the falling height is 1.50 ±0.01m. However, in ASTM D1709, the diameter of falling dart head of method A and method B is 38.1± 0.13mm and 50.8±0.13mm respectively.

The product application

At the beginning of the test, the first test method is selected to estimate an initial mass and δ M value, and the test is carried out. If the first sample is damaged, the weight δ M is used to reduce the falling mass. If the first sample is not broken, the weight δ M shall be used to increase the fall mass and the test shall be carried out accordingly. In short, weights can be used to reduce or increase falling mass, depending on whether the previous sample is broken. After 20 samples are tested, the total number of damages N is calculated. If N equals 10, the test is completed. If N is less than 10, continue the test until N is equal to 10 after the sample is supplemented. If N is greater than 10, after the sample is supplemented, continue the test until the total number of undamaged is equal to 10. Finally, the system automatically calculates the impact result. The instrument conforms to GB9639, ASTM D1709, JISK7124 and other relevant standards and provisions.
