Scitec Instruments Model 340CD is a highly stable variable frequency optical chopper. The basic system consists of a control unit, a chopper head and one of two chemical blackened lithography disks. The system works in the frequency range of 5 Hz to 220 H, depending on the choice of disc.
Other discs and accessories can be selected to meet individual needs.

The model 340CD is an optical chopper based on a 200 mm diameter disc. The larger disc size allows larger diameter beams to be cut note that it does not allow smaller diameter beams to be cut at a faster rate

The chopper frequency can be controlled externally by applying an analog voltage to the "control" BNC. The "reference" BNC provides TTL level output, generated directly from the optical switch on the chopper head. The signal has a constant phase relative to the chopper wave and can be used as a reference for other instruments, such as lock-in amplifiers.
