Before the new high-voltage transmission line is put into operation, in addition to checking the insulation and phase of the line, various power frequency parameters should be measured as the actual basis for calculating the short-circuit current of the system, setting the relay protection, calculating the distribution of the power flow and selecting the reasonable operation mode. Generally, the parameters to be measured are DC resistance R, positive sequence impedance Z1, zero sequence impedance Z0, positive sequence capacitance C1 and zero sequence capacitance C0, and interphase capacitance C12.

Before measuring parameters, it is necessary to record the relevant design data of the line, such as line name, voltage level, line length, tower type, wire type and section, etc., and make a test plan according to these data and the field situation.

In the traditional power frequency parameter test of transmission lines, the test power supply is provided by three-phase autotransformer and large capacity isolation transformer, and the electrical signal is transformed by CT and PT for power measurement. Finally, the electrical parameters are measured by pointer type high-precision voltmeter, ammeter and power meter, and the test results of power frequency parameter of transmission lines are calculated.
