China's government and the power and coal industry departments attach great importance to dust prevention work, so it is a very important and urgent work to strengthen the detection of free silica content in dust. In the past, the content of free silica in dust was detected by pyrophosphoric acid gravimetric method stipulated in the "Method for the Determination of Dust in the Air of Workplaces" (GB5748-85), which has a series of problems such as complex operation steps, wide variety of reagents used, long detection cycle, poor accuracy, and harsh laboratory conditions. It is difficult to meet the requirements of field batch testing.
In China, the determination of free silica in workplace dust is still used in many pyrophosphate gravimetric method, which requires a large amount of samples, and generally can only determine mineral (rock) stone or natural dust samples, and can not directly determine free silica in respirable dust. X-ray diffraction and infrared method are commonly used abroad. Because the infrared method of the instrument is cheaper, and does not produce harmful radioactive radiation to the human body, it is very important. The United States, Britain and other countries have used infrared method as a standard method for the determination of free silica in coal dust. In order to improve the accuracy of detection and realize the purpose of batch detection, FC-8600 dust free silica analyzer was specially developed according to the principle of infrared spectroscopy to detect the content of free silica in dust.
